Believe Dallas℠ is an AT&T initiative focused on addressing the needs of homeless, service-accepting families and veterans in the City of Dallas.
In the past three years, the unsheltered Dallas homeless population has grown 269% with a reported 10,868 homeless individuals checking into the system. More than 200 new unsheltered homeless individuals are identified each month.
Of those individuals, 59.6% report sleeping outside, while others stay in cars, hotels, shelters, friend’s houses, motels, boarding houses, transitional housing, or any other available place. At the same time, the homeless population remains vulnerable to acts of violence – 95% of homeless women report experiencing exploitation and abuse. Contrary to popular belief, only 29% of the unsheltered homeless population are service resistant.
In 2018, only 2,000 shelter beds were available to accommodate nearly 11,000 homeless individuals.
To address the homeless crisis, Believe Dallas℠ is collaborating with the City of Dallas, the business and non-profit communities, along with established homeless service providers to leverage AT&T’s leadership, employee body, and resources within the Dallas-Fort Worth community to maximize impact in the homeless community.
Believe Dallas℠ is committed to building a better tomorrow for the homeless community in the City of Dallas.
